STE(A)M in Junior Cycle

STE(A)M in Action

In this section of the website we are exploring the concept of ‘STE(A)M in Action’. How does STE(A)M thinking manifest? How do our students respond to the societal issues we consider when engaging with the STE(A)M in Junior Cycle initiative?

As we develop this initiative further, we are considering the ways in which we can support teachers as they empower their students to engage with and respond to STE(A)M thinking and STE(A)M learning.

STE(A)M in Action in School's Project 2022 - 2023

In September 2022 the JCT STE(A)M Team once again put out a call for schools to participate in a project entitled STE(A)M in Action in Schools. 40 schools from across the country were selected to participate in this project for it's second year.

What is the project about?

1. The STE(A)M in Action schools project provides time and opportunity for collaboration between teachers in school from different subject areas.
2. Teachers are supported to help students make meaningful and authentic connections between learning in different subjects.
3. Teachers engage with students implementing a small STE(A)M in Action Project in their school. Participating in this project supports students in connecting school subject learning that takes place in other life contexts and in connecting classroom learning with real world societal issues and problems.
